Basic experimental emulsions can be made with about 2% to 25% "Promulgen," up to 35% mineral hydrocarbons (mineral oil, petrolatum and/or paraffin) and water. The "Promulgen," mineral hydrocarbons, and other oily constituents should be melted together at about 75-80C. The water, in which all water-soluble ingredients have been previously dissolved, is heated to the same temperature and gradually added with vigorous mixing to the oil phase until completely emulsified and the emulsion has cooled to room temperature. Consistency is adjustable to almost any point desired between liquid and solid simply by increasing or decreasing the proportion of water present. |
