An excellent water-resistant grease can be formulated by combining one part aluminum stearate with four parts "Oronite" Polybutene No.32 in the following manner: Place one-half of the Polybutene in a kettle and heat to a temperature of 150F. Introduce the soap and stir the slurry until the soap and the oil are thoroughly mixed. Heat the mixture to 180F and while agitating add the rest of the Polybutene. Continue heating to 300F until the mass becomes entirely fluid and hold for a few minutes. This solution can then be cooled and homogenized in the conventional manner. |
